Articulate 360 pricing, as of October 2026, is $1,749 per seat per year for the Teams plan and $1,449 per seat per year for the Personal plan, both in US dollars on Articulate’s own pricing page. A training company pays that amount for every author, every year, before taxes.
This post turns those list prices into a cost model for a training provider, then covers what you lose if you cancel and what to check before you renew. Every figure is from Articulate’s own pages, opened on October 7, 2026. Prices change, so confirm each one before you buy or cancel.
Key takeaways
- Teams is $1,749 and Personal is $1,449 per seat per year (USD, as of October 2026). Taxes are extra, per Articulate’s terms.
- Cost scales one-to-one with authors. Five Teams seats cost $8,745 a year at list price, or $26,235 over three years if the price never moves.
- After a subscription ends, Articulate deletes customer content six months later. Publish and export everything first.
- Seats make the most sense when each author builds courses most of the year. Occasional authors raise the cost per course quickly.

Source: the Articulate 360 pricing page. The page also lists AI credits from $250 for 50,000 credits, and says translation and AI avatar workflows on the Articulate 360 AI plans need credits bought separately. A free trial exists, but the page does not state its length.
Education discounts exist. Articulate’s support article, last updated September 10, 2026, lists Teams at $1,311 per user for qualifying institutions. A training company should not assume it qualifies.
How much does Articulate 360 pricing cost a training company?
At list price, the annual cost is seats multiplied by $1,749 for Teams. Two seats cost $3,498, five cost $8,745 and ten cost $17,490. The seat counts below are illustrative only. Replace them with your own author count.
| Authors (illustrative) | Teams, 1 year | Teams, 3 years at today’s list | Personal, 1 year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | $3,498 | $10,494 | $2,898 |
| 5 | $8,745 | $26,235 | $7,245 |
| 10 | $17,490 | $52,470 | $14,490 |
| 20 | $34,980 | $104,940 | $28,980 |
The three-year column assumes a flat price, which Articulate does not promise. Its terms let it change renewal fees with 45 days’ written notice. Its own July 2024 notice put Teams at $1,499 per year, so today’s $1,749 is about 17 percent higher. If you hold that history in mind, plan for a rising line, not a flat one.
Seat cost also depends on use. One Teams seat costs $145.75 per month over twelve months. If that author builds courses for only four months of the year, the cost per active month is $437.25. Spread across output, five seats at $8,745 come to about $437 per course for 20 courses, $219 for 40 and $146 for 60.
These figures cover software only. They leave out author time, review rounds and your LMS. That is why the cost model is a starting point, not the whole business case.
Which costs sit outside the sticker price?
Taxes, credits and renewal changes sit outside the list price. Articulate’s terms say fees do not include taxes, and the customer pays sales, use, VAT, GST and similar taxes. Your total depends on where you are billed, so ask for a quote that shows tax.
Check these items before you finalize a budget:
- Taxes: excluded from the list price under the Articulate 360 terms of service.
- Currency: the pricing page shows US dollars and says you can buy in local currency through a reseller. Reseller prices may differ, and the page does not give them.
- Credits: AI workflows such as translation and avatars use credits that cost extra on the Articulate 360 AI plans.
- Renewal pricing: fees can change for a renewal term with 45 days’ written notice, under the same terms.
- Multi-year plans: Articulate’s support article says these are available for Teams with five or more seats. Terms and discounts are not published, so ask for a written quote.
What do you lose when you cancel or let a license lapse?
When a Teams subscription lapses, users could lose access to personal and shared content. Articulate says you have 60 days to reactivate. It deletes customer content six months after a subscription ends, and it cannot be retrieved after that. Treat the end date as your export deadline.
Details from Articulate’s own documents:
- 60-day window: contact Articulate within 60 days to reactivate. After that you buy a new subscription and ask for content to be moved.
- Six-month deletion: the terms say Articulate deletes customer content at your request or six months after the term ends, whichever is earlier.
- Shared versus personal content: shared team content belongs to the subscription. Personal content follows the user’s Articulate ID. Shared content must be made personal before it can move to another subscription.
- Storyline team slides: an Articulate staff reply on its community forum says team slides are not preserved after expiry. Keep project files and published output on your own storage.
- Ownership: Articulate’s support article says you own the rights to courses made with a paid subscription.
Read the lapsed subscription guide and the content ownership guide in full before you decide.
Pro tip: Set The Export Deadline Early. Auto-renewal can only be reduced with 30 days’ written notice before term end, and a lapse starts a six-month deletion clock. Put the notice date, not the end date, on your calendar. Then run a full export two months before it.
What can you export before you leave Articulate 360?
Articulate’s flexible publishing page says courses can be published in SCORM, AICC, cmi5 or xAPI format, as web output, or as a PDF. Publish every live course in a format your LMS accepts while you still hold a seat, and keep the source files too.
A published SCORM package is usually not editable in another tool. To change a course after you leave, you either keep a seat or rebuild it. Our guides on migrating Articulate Rise courses and editable SCORM from PowerPoint cover those routes. Which format you choose matters, so test one package in your LMS before you export fifty.
The flexible publishing page does not list SCORM versions, so confirm yours in the product help.
What should you ask before you renew or cancel?
Ask Articulate, and your own team, the questions below before the notice date. The answers decide whether you renew at the same seat count, reduce it, or leave. Write the answers down and keep them with the order form.
- What is our term end date, and what is the last day to give written notice to reduce seats?
- What will the renewal price per seat be, and when will we be told?
- How many seats had a login and a published course in the last 90 days?
- Who owns each piece of shared content, and has it been made personal where needed?
- Which courses are live in a client’s LMS, and do we hold the source files for each?
- Have we exported a test package from each course type and loaded it into the target LMS?
- Is the plan we hold the one we need, and are any credits unused?
- Does the quote include tax, and does a reseller quote in local currency differ from the USD list?
- If we leave, who will make edits to live courses afterward, and with what tool?
- Do our client contracts promise update rights that depend on keeping the tool?
Seat reassignment deserves one more check. The terms let an administrator reassign a seat when the prior user no longer requires access, as long as purchased seats are never exceeded. They do not describe daily rotation, so ask Articulate before you plan around sharing.
When do per-seat authoring licenses stop making sense?
Per-seat authoring licenses stop making sense when many people touch courses occasionally, when most content is converted from existing slides, SOPs or PDFs, or when cost per finished course climbs because seats sit idle. This rule of thumb is our judgment, not Articulate’s guidance.
Use this decision rule with your own numbers:
- Keep seats if each author builds courses in most months and the cost per course, using the table above, fits your margin.
- Cut seats if fewer than your full author count were active in the last 90 days. A seat used four months a year costs about $437 per active month at today’s Teams price.
- Look elsewhere for conversion work if most output is existing ILT material turned into SCORM. See ILT to eLearning conversion for that workflow.
- Price Frontline carefully if you want unlimited seats. It starts at $500 a year with credits, but it is a different product from Rise and Storyline, so test whether it makes the formats you sell.
Be fair to the tool. Rise and Storyline are mature products, and for a team of full-time authors the per-seat price may be reasonable. The question is fit, not fault.
What should you do next?
List your seats, last-active dates, live courses and notice date this week. Run the cost model with your real author count, then export one test package from each course type. That gives you facts for a renew, reduce or leave decision.

Yes, unless your order form says otherwise. Articulate’s terms say you must give at least 30 days’ written notice before the term ends to reduce seats or add-on credits, or the subscription renews. Check your own order form, because contract terms can differ.
